COVID Guidelines for return to class February 16th, 2022.
The following information is for RETURNING STUDENTS ONLY.
NEW STUDENTS will be considered in early March 2022. This time stagger will allow us to determine how classes will run within the guidelines given to us by our landlord (school district 68). As well, it will help us establish our initial “bubble” for club members.
1. PROOF OF VACCINATION IS REQUIRED. The BC Vaccination Card Verifier app will be used upon your initial class. This guideline is set by our landlord, the school district and we have no control over it. We understand this will be a deal breaker some people. We respect everyone’s choice over their personal health and hope this requirement will be gone down the road. That said, it is a requirement for now.
A brief health screening will occur at the beginning of each class upon entry to the building. Those failing the screening will be turned away.
2. Masks must be worn upon entry to the building, in washrooms, in between activity and when exiting the premises.
Masks may be removed during activity at the participants discretion.
3. Please bring a personal sized bottle of hand cleaner with you to class. Additional cleaner will be provided as well as sinks with soap.
4. Please do not attend if you are ill, suspect you’ve had recent contact with COVID-19 or are subject to provincial quarantine. If you are ill, we ask that you stay away for 14 days. We know this may sound extreme given that some isolations are down to 5 days. We will re-examine this later, but for now, 14 days will be the requirement.
It is CRITITCAL that we follow these guidelines as we face permanent termination of our contract with the school board if we are found to be in violation of any of the terms.
Please consider others health and well-being….do not attend if you are sick or suspect you’re becoming sick.
Six-foot markers will be utilized to keep space between us during activities that do not require contact.
The initial weeks will have a fitness, techniques, and kata’s focus to them. Sparring and self-defence are permitted and will ramp up in following weeks, but for now, we will focus on getting the rust off and learning how to operate within the guidelines.
We don’t expect that we will have too different an experience in class with guidelines in place. We all just need to be diligent for now.
It’s been a long two years and we look forward to training and getting back to normal!!!
